MontagueMA.net community holds tenth anniversary party in Turners Falls
Montague, MA -- The MontagueMA.net website, a project of Montague WebWorks, turns ten years old and will hold their Tenth Anniversary Party at the Rendezvous on Third Street in Turners Falls, Saturday, October 17th from Noon to 5:00 PM outside. There will be an after-party inside from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Highlights of the party include three live bands; face painting and games for the kids; door prizes; $2 off food / beverage certificates for anyone wearing the official MontagueMA.net t-shirt (shirts will be on sale for those not already owning one); buy-one-get-one-free beer on tap in the beer garden; and other surprises. Meet the people you've been chatting with for ten years, face to face.
Created by resident Michael Muller in 1999, and run as a project of Montague WebWorks since March of 2008, the MontagueMA.net website has a notable history in the town. Over the last ten years it has undeniably had an effect on town elections, Town Meetings and even School Committee budgets, as well as providing town residents a place to announce local events, post missing pet notices, and generally chat with one another. Several Town Hall departments also post their information on the website.
Currently sporting a membership of more than 1300 people, over 1000 of which are Montague residents, the website is fairly active for a town of only 8300 residents. The site sports such statistics as twenty one thousand posted messages and about three million page views (averaging 1500 page views per day over the past three years), proving that the website is a resource for the town and a place residents have relied on for a decade.
The anniversary party will also host a technology fundraiser for the Montague Reporter, the local weekly newspaper. Donations of cash, checks and up-to-date technology equipment will be accepted at the party.
