Setting up Email on your iPhone

Setting up your email address on your iPhone is quite simple.

As with any email client, including a laptop / desktop app such as Outlook or Thunderbird, or mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, the settings are all the same. The only difference is how you create a new account in your email client, and where those settings are kept.

The basic settings you need to access your email hosted by Montague WebWorks is as follows:

  • Choose IMAP as your email type
  • Hostname for both incoming and outgoing (receiving / sending) is: mail.MontagueWebWorks.com
  • Username is your FULL email address
  • Password is obviously your password
  • Password should not be encrypted
  • We support TSL / SSL
  • Username and password are REQUIRED for sending email.
    • It is not enough to just check the radio button "use the same settings as incoming mail" as sometimes that doesn't work (especially in older versions of Outlook)
  • Use all default ports. If sending doesn't work, try port 587 for SMTP

To create a new account in your built-in iPhone email program

  • Go to Settings (gear icon)
  • If you're running a newer IOS version, go to Mail, then Accounts
    • If it's a little older, go to Accounts
  • At the bottom of the list tap Add Account
  • Choose "Other"
  • Add Mail Account
  • Enter in your full name, email address and password
    • You can change your Description to indicate which email address this is
  • After that, continue entering in the info from the list above

If you are having trouble receiving or sending email after setting it up, double-check your password and the hostname/server name, and that all other settings are correct with no typos.

If all else fails, give Mik a call or text 413-320-5336.
